Dr Ian Ferguson

Dr Ian Ferguson trained at University College London (UCL), graduating with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery in 1993. He was owner and partner in his own clinic in London for 12 years, and is still employed by St. Thomas’ Hospital Emergency department as a Clinical Fellow. He returns to the UK regularly to work in General Practice and to update his practice.

He gained a Masters in Science (MSc) in General Practice and a diploma in Diabetes from King’s College London and has taken part in courses in Expedition medicine in the UK and abroad. He is currently a UK registered doctor as well as registered with the National Medical Council of Cambodia.

He has worked and volunteered in Cambodia for since 2011, having worked for “The Lake Clinic” in remote floating villages on the Tonle Sap lake, and for “New Hope Cambodia” in Siem Reap. Over this time he has built up many contacts with health providers in Cambodia and developed much experience in the medical problems of the region and in tropical medicine.

More recently he has developed medical contacts with many of the international hospitals in Bangkok, liaising with he medical evacuation teams and air ambulance.

He has a Cambodian wife and young child, and aims to stay in the region for a number of years.


Nurses & Midwives

I work closely with an Australian trained and registered nurse. She is an independent practitioner who can help with wound management and other nursing issues.
